New Training Programme Offers In-Depth Scrum Foundations, PSM I Exam Preparation And Certification

BOSTON – July 30, 2025 – Scrum.org, the Home of Scrum, today announced its new Professional Scrum Fundamentals self-paced training course. This course explores all facets of the Scrum framework including its accountabilities, events, artifacts and more. Throughout this self-paced course, the elements of the Scrum Guide come alive with interactive features including activities, videos and quizzes. Professional Scrum Fundamentals is highly recommended for people preparing to take the globally recognized Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification test and includes an attempt at the test upon completion of the course.

Scrum helps people and teams deliver value incrementally in a collaborative way. Continuous experimentation and feedback loops are utilized along the way to learn and improve as the team progresses.

This training course is designed for professionals who are new to Scrum and for those who want to strengthen their Scrum capabilities. Students will develop a clear understanding of the fundamentals of the Scrum framework. Professional Scrum Fundamentals goes beyond the concepts described in the Scrum Guide, helping students learn how to apply Professional Scrum to deliver products with greater value. The course follows a case study, walking students through a “day in the life” scenario that reinforces the principles of Professional Scrum, with interactive elements to test their knowledge along the way.

“When you haven’t used Professional Scrum before or really experienced how much it can benefit a team, it can be a bit overwhelming,” said Dave West, CEO of Scrum.org.  “We are excited to offer this new course to help bring people up to speed and develop their understanding of the core concepts of the Scrum framework, where they can learn on their own time. People learn in many different ways, and I am thrilled that we are able to bring the Scrum.org quality learning experience to students who prefer the flexibility of a self-paced format.”

Upon taking this course, students will be able to:

  • Discuss how Scrum differs from traditional plan-driven work models
  • Identify when and why Scrum is beneficial to a team’s needs
  • Describe why self-management is key to working collaboratively in a Scrum Team
  • Explain why each event, artifact and accountability is fundamental to the Scrum framework
  • Summarize how the Scrum events, artifacts and accountabilities interact
  • Describe how an empirical mindset and outcome-driven behavior are core to Professional Scrum
  • Recognize common challenges for Scrum Teams and identify recommended ways to avoid them

Professional Scrum Fundamentals is delivered fully online at the student’s own pace. Students can take it over a period of days, weeks or months, depending on what suits their availability and needs. It takes approximately 4.5 hours to complete.

This course helps students prepare for the PSM I certification test. Students taking the Professional Scrum Fundamentals course will receive a password to take the certification test upon completion of the course. Students can purchase and begin the new training course on the Scrum.org website.
